You sit there
Your face buried in your arms
Sounds of your misery heavily leave your lips
As you cry out in pure pain and loneliness
You didn’t know it
But I was there
I have always been there
I sit beside you as you cry
For me or anything else
I want to ever so badly take away your unhappiness
And in return fill you with joy and glee
I want to press my skull into your body
Just like I used to when you needed me most
I want to feel your fingers grapple my skin
As you held me close to seek comfort
I desire my presence to be known to you
Just so you know I am still here
I will always be here for you
Watching over you
I miss waking up only to leap upon your bed
And smother you in my loving actions
I miss saying good bye as you leave to fulfill the day’s tasks
Knowing you will return to me
I miss greeting you at the door
And feeling your embrace around my body as my happiness blooms
I miss the times we would spend together
Anything from a movie marathon to a drive in town followed by a walk
I miss saying good night
And closing my eyes and falling asleep beside you
I know you hurt still
I know you feel the sting of guilt for what happened
You held me in your arms and kept me close
You told me you loved me
That’s all I ever wanted to hear
I listened to your heart beat
As mine slipped away
Don’t worry though
I will see you again when your last grain of sand falls
I will be waiting there for you like I always do
